On the 15th – 18th October 2014 Muzeul Olteniei from Craiova organized the 5th edition of the national conference called “Oltenia. Cultural connections”.

During this symposium the participants visited the roman site from Gamzigrad (the antique city of Romuliana, today in Republic of Serbia). Our project director, dr. hab. Alexandru Popa, held a presentation called “The ram-shaped roman provincial vessels: functionality, provenance, symbolism”. During his presentation he argued upon the issue of archaeological and historical interpretation of a relatively rare ceramic vessel type from Dacia and Moesia Inferior, found both in roman camps and fortified settlements, as well as in necropolises and individual graves.
